Donation Highlights

The gift of opportunity

Students in the Department of Electrical, Computing and Software Engineering received a boost of education and inspiration when technology company NXP Semiconductors donated $7.7 million worth of circuits and motherboard components. The gift of nearly 75,000 components gives students hands-on experience with industry-grade hardware.

"This gift accelerates the academic-to-industry pipeline and prepares students for global challenges in computer technology,” said Michael Wu, ECE department head and professor."

Boosting careers

Software engineering doctoral candidate Muhid Hassan won a 2025-2026 Herbold Fellowship to advance his technological solutions for road safety. Awardees receive significant funding in their first year of study.

"Winning the fellowship allows me to focus entirely on my research and gives me the chance to attend conferences, meet other engineers, and share my work with a broader audience."
