The University of Arizona has been in the vanguard of electrical and computer engineering education and research since 1910. Today, the School of Electrical, Computing, and Software Engineering brings together three complementary disciplines.
Paths to High-Tech Success
The school – which includes electrical and computer engineering, computer science and engineering and software engineering – prepares students to lead across the entire technology landscape powering modern society.
ECSE students are exposed to the complete technology stack. They understand how hardware, software, computing and intelligent systems work together to solve complex problems. Graduates thrive in today's rapidly changing world of semiconductor devices, communication networks, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, robotics, autonomous systems, cloud computing, quantum technologies and biomedical inventions.
Learning by Doing
Undergraduates are grounded in real-world experiential learning, inside and outside the classroom, from Day 1.
The Craig M. Berge Engineering Design Program, ensures students in the U of A College of Engineering do hands-on design beginning in their first year and continuing through interdisciplinary capstone projects. In addition to meaningful industry-sponsored projects, undergraduates do internships with top companies in a variety of sectors and high-profile, life-changing research with world-renowned faculty.
With a flexible curriculum and in small classes, you can explore multiple disciplines and pursue a double major or major-minor combination.
Research for a Changing World
Partnering with industry, government agencies and national laboratories, faculty and students work in modern facilities to transform fundamental discoveries into technologies that improve quality of life.
ECSE faculty and students conduct pioneering research in areas critical to energy and utilities, telecommunications, computing, security and defense, transportation, medical care and space exploration, for example.
